Guaranteed authentic from the temple.*** This Phra Kring Phairi Phinash, 80th Birthday Anniversary of Somdej Phra Yannasangworn, Supreme Patriarch, was consecrated at Wat Bowonniwet Vihara in 2536 BE (1993 AD). Made of copper, it measures 3.2 centimeters in height. Phairi Phinash is a Buddha image of the Ratanasambhava Buddha, currently enshrined in the pavilion on the second floor, north side of the main pagoda at Wat Bowonniwet Rajavaravihara, Bangkok. Around 2391 BE (1848 AD), during the reign of King Rama III, someone presented a Buddha image to King Rama IV while he was still a monk at Wat Bowonniwet Vihara. This Buddha image displayed miraculous powers, causing enemies who plotted against him to suffer defeat and misfortune. Therefore, the King bestowed the name Phairi Phinash upon this important Buddha image. The name "Phra Phairi Phinash" is supported by evidence in a paper document found inside the Phra Phairi Phinash pagoda. The inscription reads, "May this stone stupa and throne be named Phra Phairi Phinash Pagoda," and on the other side, "Since its construction, the enemies have been successively troubled and destroyed." This evidence was discovered on Monday, November 30, 1964, during the 96th anniversary renovation of the pagoda at Wat Bowonniwet Vihara. |
