  His Holiness Somdej Phra Yansangwon, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, graciously presided over the coronation ceremony at the Ubosot of Wat Phra Kaew.

  On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the throne in 1996, he became the longest-reigning monarch in the world, an achievement unprecedented in national history. Throughout his reign, His Majesty performed numerous royal duties of immense benefit to the nation, bringing prosperity to the people. Hundreds and thousands of royal initiatives were initiated to improve the livelihoods and quality of life of farmers, and projects benefiting the nation, such as those addressing traffic congestion in Bangkok and flooding, and many more, reflecting His gracious devotion to his people.

  Those who are grateful and loyal to His Majesty the King and the Chakri Dynasty have unanimously agreed that a fund should be managed and presented to His Majesty for royal initiative projects and the construction of Buddhist monuments in His Majesty's honor and as royal merit-making offerings. This is to express their loyalty and remember His Majesty's immeasurable and gracious grace towards the nation, Buddhism, and its people.

  The committee for the construction of this Buddhist monument has organized the construction of Thailand's largest chedi, a major pagoda. Construction began on a seaside hillside in the compound of Wat Tang Sai, Village No. 9, Ban Krut, Tambon Thong Chai, Amphoe Bang Saphan, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The chedi stands majestically atop a hill jutting out into the sea, offering stunning panoramic views. The chedi was designed and supervised by M.R. Mitrarun Kasemsri, a national artist and expert in Thai architecture. The chedi features nine spires, a quadrangular shape, measuring 50 meters wide and 50 meters high. The chedi is divided into five levels: a basement for rainwater collection, a multipurpose level, a viharn (ordination hall), an ordination hall (uposat), and a hall housing the relics of the Lord Buddha. The exterior of the chedi is clad in gold and glass mosaics. Surrounding niches are Buddha images in various postures, each with their own distinctive features. The chedi is designed in the style of Rattanakosin Thai architecture. During the reign of King Rama IX, it was later named "Phra Mahathat Chedi Phakdi Prakat".

  This Mahathat Chedi, upon completion, will serve as a place for religious ceremonies and a spiritual center for the people, emphasizing their devotion to the nation, religion, and monarchy, a tradition passed down from ancient times. To this end, Mr. Sawat Chotipanich, former President of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the Tribute Fund, submitted a request for royal permission to create a commemorative coin, featuring the image of King Chulalongkorn, his grandfather, on one side and the initials of his royal name, "จปร." on the other. This is the first coin of King Rama V for which royal permission was properly requested, and His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch graciously presided over the consecration ceremony.

They commissioned the production of this auspicious commemorative coin, assembling renowned sculptors to participate in the process, using high-tech equipment, and creating exquisitely crafted boxes.
