Created to commemorate the auspicious occasion of His Holiness Somdej Phra Yannasangworn, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand's 90th birthday.
In creating these sacred objects, metal remnants from ancient amulet casting ceremonies held at Wat Bowonniwet Vihara were used. These include remnants from the Phra Kring Pavaret, Phra Kring Phairi Phinath, Phra Kring Sujitto, Phra Kring Bowonrangsi, Phra Kring Suwatthano, and remnants from the Phra Phuttha Rattanaporn (Bhumibol Adulyadej) and Phra Phuttha Chinnasi amulets, among others.
His Holiness Somdej Phra Yannasangworn, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, inscribed sacred characters on gold plates, and 108 revered monks and teachers from across the country also inscribed characters on gold plates, which were then used as a mixture in the metal used to create the amulet.
Inside each Phra Kring or Buddha image of Somdej, are enshrined strands of hair from His Holiness Somdej Phra Yannasangworn, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, and each is numbered and marked with a code.
The casting ceremony was presided over by His Holiness Somdej Phra Yannasangworn, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, with Mr. Wissanu Krea-ngam, Deputy Prime Minister, acting on behalf of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as the lay chairman.
Sixty monks and Buddhists from Taiwan, led by Master Xin Tao Da Shi of Lingjiu Mountain Temple, participated in the ceremony.
