High Relief Antique DesignThe reverse of the coin depicts Hades standing at the bottom of a staircase in the underworld with two skulls in the background. He is holding Cerberus, the three-headed watchdog, by a chain. The inscription HADES also appears in the design. To capture the depth and detail of the design, the coin is struck in high relief to a rimless format. It has also been individually 'antiqued' to give it a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment, the appearance of each coin may vary.
