This set of coins was produced to replace the copper coins with the J.P.R. - Chaiyaphruek emblem, which were insufficient to meet demand. In 1887 , King Chulalongkorn ordered the production of copper coins again and changed the design of the new coin by inviting Phra Siam Devadhiraj, a deity created during the reign of King Rama IV, who is believed to be a deity who protects and saves the country from disaster, to be invited on the coin. Characteristics: Round, flat edge, smooth edge, diameter 2.40 cm. , weight 5.53 grams, thickness 0.15 cm. Ingredients: 95% copper, 4% tin, 1% zinc. Front - Half-length portrait of King Chulalongkorn Turning to the left, wearing full dress uniform, with the royal cypher "Chulalongkorn P.R." on the left edge, "King Chulalongkorn, the Prince of Siam" on the right edge.
On the back - is the image of Phra Siam Devadhiraj seated, his left hand holding a staff, his right hand resting on the edge of a shield. The shield is divided into 3 rooms. The upper room is a three-headed elephant, meaning Northern Siam, Central Siam, Southern Siam. The lower left room is a standing elephant, meaning the vassal state of Laos. The lower right room is a crossed kris, meaning the vassal state of Malay. Around the rim are letters indicating the price. Below Phra Siam Devadhiraj is the number indicating the Chula Sakarat or Rattanakosin Era, the year of production.
