This commemorative coin of the Royal Barge Narai Song Suban, King Rama IX, was created in 1996 to mark the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 50th anniversary of his reign.

The auspicious consecration ceremony took place at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram on Friday, November 17, 1995. The
ceremony was attended by His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, who offered prayers and blessings, along with many renowned Buddhist monks. (His Holiness Somdej Phra Yannasangworn was the presiding monk.)
