The Border Service Medal (Ch.D.) is an important royal decoration
. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) graciously ordered its creation on September 22, 1954, to be bestowed upon soldiers, police, civil servants and those performing special border duties in accordance with the Border Service Medal Act 1954.
? Characteristics of the Border Service Medal Coin The Border Service Medal is a round coin made of gold-colored metal.
The front sidefeatures a portrait of King Naresuan the Great engaging in an elephant duel with an enemy.
The back side features the inscription "We perform our duty for the honor of Thailand."
The medal is hung from a purple ribbon with white stripes on both sides. Above is a gold-colored metal field marshal's baton-shaped pin inscribed with the words "Border Service" and is worn on the left chest.
