The Mint, Treasury Department, created it to commemorate the 50th anniversary of His Majesty's accession to the throne.

For men, the ribbon is vertical

On the front is a picture of His Majesty King Rama IX seated on a throne and wearing the five royal regalia.
It is the royal regalia of the King. "The Royal Regalia" is the symbol of the King. It consists of 5 things, collectively called "The Five Royal Regalia".
For the five royal regalia for Thailand, they consist of:
1. The Great Crown of Victory (Crown)
2. Valwichani (whip and fan)
3. Phra Saeng Khan Chai Sri (sword)
4. Thara Phrakon (looks like a monk's walking stick)
5. Royal shoes
