Description
This cute coin is the second Christmas-themed issue of a Chibi Coin from the New Zealand Mint and features Buddy the Elf from the Christmas comedy "Elf" directed by Jon Favreau, starring Will Ferrell, James Caan and Zooey Deschanel. The coin was minted from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality and features the famous main character in his iconic green and yellow elf costume. The special feature of this coin is its special shape in "Chibi Art" style. Chibi figures are characterized by their disproportionately large head and a relatively small body. This strongly belittles the depicted characters. The reverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The mintage is limited to only 2,000 pieces worldwide.
"Elf" is one of the well-known Christmas movies of the 2000s and is about an elf adoptee named Buddy who sets out to find his real father in New York. In the process, his adventure leads him not only to his real father Walter, but also to a decision to bring the joyful message of Christmas to all of New York. The uniquely shaped Buddy the Elf Chibi Coin is delivered in a Christmas themed box from the New Zealand Mint including a certificate of authenticity.
