Description
On August 27, 2015, Bank Negara Malaysia has launched a commemorative coin to commemorate the National Mosque Golden Jubilee celebration. The national Mosque commemorative coin was launched by the 14th Malaysian King, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah ibn Almarhum Sultan Badlishah at the National Mosque.
The National Mosque was officially opened on 27 August 1965 by the third Yang di-Pertuan Agong Malaysia, the late Tuanku Syed Putra ibni Almarhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail.
The front of the coin shows the overall view of Masjid Negara. The words “JUBLI EMAS MASJID NEGARA” are on the upper circumference of the coin while the “MASJID NEGARA” words in Jawi script are on the upper right side of the coin. The years 1965 – 2015 denoting 50 years of the anniversary are inscribed on the lower circumference of the coin with the landscape of Masjid Negara.
At the back of the coin, the words “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin are featured on the upper circumference of the coin, while the face value of the coin is inscribed on the lower circumference. In between, the event logo in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Masjid Negara is featured on the coin.
The commemorative coins are minted and packed by Bank Negara Malaysia and sold on 28 August 2015 at Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (MAG) and its representative offices and branches in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
