In the center of the coin is the image of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, wearing the royal regalia and academic robe. Within the upper rim of the coin is the inscription “His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Great, the King of Kings”. Below is the inscription “Rama IX”, with a Thai pattern separating the text above and below on both sides.

The center of the coin bears the emblem of the 50th anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the throne. Within the circle on the right side of the coin is the text “Celebrating 50 Years of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne”. On the left side is the text “9 June 1996, Thailand”. Above is the text “Kanchanaphisek”. Below is the denomination “10 Baht”.
