Phra Phuttha Nawamaharajayuchchabparivatanmongkol BPR, commemorating the 6th cycle birthday of King Rama IX in 2542 BE (1999 CE), with original case.
This large-sized amulet, made of bronze alloy and measuring 2.4 x 3.4 cm,
was created by the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister to commemorate the 60th birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2542 B.E. (1999 A.D.).
The grand Buddhist consecration ceremony took place at the Ubosot (main chapel) of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) in the Grand Palace on Friday, January 2, 1998.
Her Majesty Queen Sirikit presided over the gold pouring ceremony on behalf of His Majesty the King.
His Holiness Somdej Phra Yannasangworn, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, presided over the religious ceremony and lit the ceremonial candle, along with other senior monks and renowned Buddhist masters from across the country.
This construction project was therefore based on the following principles:
1. Accuracy in ancient rituals.
2. The completeness and suitability of the materials, specifically the gold and metal alloys used to create the amulets in this project.
3. Beautiful design.
Based on these principles, the organizing committee has stipulated three ceremonies to ensure they are correct, complete, and sacred according to ancient texts passed down from the Ayutthaya period, during the time of Somdet Phra Phonrat, the teacher of Somdet Phra Naresuan Maharat.
Details of the ceremony.
The first ceremony was held at the main chapel of Wat Rakhang Khositaram on Friday, November 21, 1997, with the kind participation of 9 revered monks from each province across the country, totaling 684 monks.
The second ceremony took place on Friday, January 2, 1998, at the Phra Kaew Sri Rattana Satsadaram Temple. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit presided over the casting of the gold and the consecration ceremony. Gold, copper, and silver plates were presented to His Majesty the King, who offered prayers, anointed them, and sprinkled holy water on them, to be melted down and used in the creation of this Buddha image.
The third ceremony, the Grand Buddha Consecration and Victory Blessing Ceremony, took place at the Ubosot (main chapel) of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) around November 1998.
To allow the public to participate with the government in offering merit to His Majesty the King on this auspicious occasion, all proceeds were presented to His Majesty for charitable purposes as he deemed appropriate. His Majesty graciously bestowed the name “Phra Phuttha Nawamaharajayuchchabpariwatnamongkol” upon this project, meaning a Buddha image created on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 6th cycle birthday celebration (72nd birthday anniversary, December 5, 1999). Furthermore, His Majesty also granted sacred materials from Chitralada Palace to create a set of five amulets: two Phra Somdej amulets, two Phra Nang Phaya amulets, and one amulet representing His Majesty’s birth anniversary.
