Ganesha  statue in honor of 50th anniversary of the King’s Accession to the Throne, created by the Faculty of Archaeology, Silpakorn University, in 2005. Made of bronze . Serial number 778. Lap
width 2 inches,  base width 5.5 cm.  , height 8 cm. For the first time in history, the abbreviation of the name “S.T.” was placed on the pedestal of Ganesha. Created according to the sketch by His Royal Highness Prince Narisara Nuvadtivongse, the Chief Engineer of Siam (the younger brother of King Rama V), and sculpted by national artists. Lecturers from the Faculty of Painting, Silpakorn University, the Faculty of Archaeology, and the Faculty of Archaeology Alumni Association of Silpakorn University jointly created “Ganesha in honor of 50th anniversary of the King’s Accession to the Throne”, as 2005 was the year of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. On the occasion of His Majesty’s 50th birthday, it is also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Archaeology, Silpakorn University. For the creation of the Ganesha statue, His Holiness Somdej Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, graciously bestowed gold and materials. Furthermore, the gold from the casting of the first edition of the Phra P.P.R. Buddha image was also received to participate in the casting of the Ganesha statue. The Ganesha statue pouring ceremony was held at 11:39 a.m. on September 21, 2005, which was the annual Ganesha Puja Day, at the Silpakorn University ceremonial hall, Wang Tha Phra. Somdej Phra Maha Thirachan of Wat Chana Songkhram Ratchaworamahawihan, the Central Region Abbot, presided over the clergy, and Mr. Khanchai Bunpan, Chairman of Matichon Public Company Limited, presided over the laity. The sacred auspicious consecration ceremony was held in the chapel of Wat Phra Kaew Wang Na. The gold pouring ceremony was held at Wang Tha Phra on the day that corresponds with the birth of Ganesha or Ganesh Chaturthi. Somdej Phra Maha Thirachan of Wat Chana Songkhram presided over the ceremony. Famous monks sat in meditation and prayed to bless the amulets in 4 directions, including : – Luang Pho Prasit of Wat Sai Noi – Luang Pho Iad of Wat Pai Lom – Luang Pho Poon Sap of Wat Ang Sila – Luang Pho Uayphon of Wat Don Yai Hom – Phra Ajahn Chainarong of Wat Lao was the master of ceremonies.
